Special Plenary Workshop Prides – facing challenges of the future Mediator: Peter Achtnicht The goal of this plenary workshop is to strenghten the worldwide cooperation among Prides, partners and other relevant players in the LGBT community. In this plenary workshop we want to develop ideas empowering us to face the challenges. For example we will define measures enhancing poorly established Prides and discuss cooperations between InterPride and other relevant organisations such as EPOA or try to encourage partnerships between established Prides in order to strengthen the movement. After a plenary session, smaller workgroups will be formed with different themes to work on. The work of the groups will then be presented to the plenary. Special Debate Diversity Podium speakers: Rob Lengacher, UBS; Michael Naegele, Sunrise; Christoph von Gamm, IBM;Claude Koehl, Intercultural Services Switzerland – though a small country – is the domicile of some of the largest Multinational Corporations in the world. Especially large enterprises have an enormous impact on changing the work environment, on how LGBT employees are viewed in the workforce – and within society at large. For any LGBT employee the question could arise: Is it reasonable to out myself at work? How will this influence my career? Does the company support an internal LGBT group? Do enterprises allow their employees, to take part and visually show the company logo in a Parade? Is it also likely that companies with a diversity programme would sponsor a Pride Event in general? Pride events can be an opportunity for companies to demonstrate their acceptance of diversity and show a modern corporate image. Some enterprises discuss these questions within their diversity bureau, others have an internal Pride group, but there are still some companies that avoid the fact that lesbians and gays are working for them. After a podium talk, the discussion will be opened to the audience.
